Course Reflections

Course Reflection #1

When I first enrolled in EDLD5306, I envisioned it preparing me for the entire Educational Technology Leadership program. I hoped to get a solid foundation of the program through the evaluation and understanding of the technology standards. I wanted to receive the structure and requirements as well. I did achieve the outcomes that I envisioned. There were many opportunities to examine technology standards both state and national. Aslo, I gained a better understanding of what is to comein future course. The actual outcomes aligned with the outcomes I envisioned and went above and beyond my preconceptions. I especially benefited from learning my own technology level and how it compares to that of a technology leader. The many reading and discussion concerning technology in the classroom emlightened me. I even learned how to implement several forms of technology that I had not previously experienced such as wikis and RSS feeds.

Course Reflection #2

The outocmes I envisioned prior to this course were all achieved. They are relevant to the work I do at school. I am a math lab teacher at an elementary and technology is an important part of y classroom. Having a better understanding of the national and state technology standards allow me to be more efficient in lesson planning and implementation. A recent experience illustrates the relevance this course has on my work. I was asked by my principal to conduct a staffdevelopment session on Feb 20th. I use this opportunity to practice some of the new techniques I learned with Microsoft powerpoint and blogs. I believe the many useful techniques and resources gained from this course will be relevant throughout my education career.

Course Reflection #4

At the start of this course, I was a bit intimidated by the amount of projects within each week's assignment.  was no certain that I could balance it all with work and home. I quickly developed a time management system that allowed me to successfully carryout the course assignments. The feeling of being overwhelmed left me after the first week. I believe it helped that I am so passionate about both education and technology. When the two are combined, my motivation level increases a great deal.

Course Reflection #5

After completing the course, Concepts of Educational Technology, I realized I have alot more to learn about new technology and how to successfully implement it in the classroom. My passion for technology alone will not ensure the successful implementation. I have a aot more to learn to ensure success. At the beginning of the course, I learned alot about my own personality style and how it pertains to my leadership ability. According to the Loti Survey, my level of technology implementation is Level 4a-intergration; mechanical. this survey also suggested some professional development and resources that would be beneficial to my technology leadership growth. The "Setda" survey revealed my strengths and weaknesses with regard to technology use and implementation. I came to the conclusion that I learn technology th ebest through hands-on practice. The Keirsey Temperament also revealed valuable information. It says I am an Idealist (NF). Knowing this and other things throughout the course, will help me grow as a leader in technology.
