District Technology Plan

Posting #2

The technology plan for Spring ISD is embedded in its 5 year plan. According to the Spring Independent School District website, the objective states that “Every class will provide frequent opportunities to use technology tools for student learning.” There are four strategies related to this objective. The first is to embed specific instructional technology tools and examples into the curricula. The resources for this strategy are the curricula and technology tools. The responsible party for this strategy is the executive director for curriculum design. A formative assessment will be held May 2012 and the summative assessment will be held May 2015. The second strategy is to expand student portal beyond pilot program, making it available to all students. The third strategy is to implement Google Apps for Education for students. The resources for the second and third strategy are current budget and staffing. The responsible parties for the second and third strategies are the executive director of technology, the director of technology services, and the application specialist. The formative assessments for the second and third strategies were help November 2011 and the summative assessments for both strategies will be administered May 2012. The last strategy related to my district’s technology objective is to implement desktop virtualization to extend the life of existing hardware for students. The resources are the current budget, technology funds, and staffing. The responsible parties are the director of infrastructure, the director of technology services, the telecom/network specialist and the application specialist. The formative assessment took place in November 2011 and the summative assessment will be administered May 2012.
