EDLD 5363 Web Conference Reflection: July 1, 2012
The July 1 conference was by far the most informative
conference for me. There were many questions concerning what should be turned
in during weeks 3, 4, and 5. There were also questions concerning IA’s and grading.
Dr. Abernathy made it clear that all final decisions for the course belonged to
her. That was reassuring to me. I found it very encouraging that her goal is
for everyone taking the course to gain an understanding of multimedia concepts
and be successful in the class. She wants to make sure that we feel we have
accomplished something and be able to transfer our newfound learning into our
own classrooms. I plan to do just that. Even though I am teaching early
elementary now, I will find ways to incorporate what I have learned into my
class.
EDLD 5363 Web Conference Reflection: June 16, 2012
The June 16th conference allowed the participants
to get to know one another a little better. I think that is especially
important with online courses, more so when group projects are component of the
course. We have to be comfortable enough with each other to work together
successfully. The week 2 podcast assignment was clarified during this conference.
Dr. Abernathy did another great job of answering each and every question and issue
presented to her by the participants. Week 2 for me personally was the most
difficult of the 5 weeks. The web conference helped me to get through it.
EDLD 5363 Web Conference Reflection: June 4, 2012
The fist video conference for this course was very
informative for me. It cleared up many of the questions I had about the course
and the degree program. Dr. Abernathy was as helpful as she has been in all the
previous courses I have taken with her. Although I did not attend the
conference live. I viewed the recording and gained a lot of insight from
questions asked by my peers. Confusion about IA’s for the class was one issue
in particular this conference cleared up for me. They discussed requirements
for the course. I noticed that many of the groups for the projects began to
form here during the conference. I love having the opportunity to ask questions
without having to wait 24 hours for a response. I look forward to using the
technology tools and strategies I learned about in my own classroom.

Digital Story Reflection: Week 1
La'Kisha Williams EDLD 5363 ET8044
Reflection:
This week's assignment showed me just how much fun multimedia and digital video making can be. The entire process from the script writing to publishing the final project was a new intriguing experience for me. It did not seem like work at all. I used the digital editing program IMovie. All of my photos except one was shot with my own personal Iphone. The storyline behind the project was one that is close to my heart. My digital story is about my 8 year old nephew who was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes this past April, about 2 weeks before his birthday. Before this, he was a normal kid doing normal things when all of a sudden he was rushed to Texas Children's in critical condition. Throughout the whole ordeal, he has been so courageous refusing to give in to this disease. This project allowed me to put a personal face to this growing epidemic. I can see how this type of media outlet can do wonders for a 21st Century classroom and 21st Century learners. I am by no means an expert in digital video making but I am very interesting in becoming one.

Week 4 Reflection:
The assignment for week 4 gave me some great tools to use throughout my action research plan. I was really intrigued by the Force Field Analysis, Delphi Method, and the Nominal Group Technique. Out of the three, my favorite is the Nominal Group Technique. I can imagine using this technique during both faculty meetings with the whole staff regarding my action research topic and with the campus morale committee in a smaller setting. This technique will be great to use at the start of my action research project. I also met with my site supervisor again this week to share my draft action research plan. My supervisor had some great ideas. She suggested that we choose the committee members at the start of the next school year in order to make sure the teachers we choose are still teaching at our campus. She also suggested that I utilize the counselor as a resource throughout the process. She also let me know that if I locate the book for the book study soon enough, we may be able to purchase enough for all the teachers depending on funds.
